I'm a transplanted Arkansan living in Maine since 1991. I got my first guitar for Christmas in 1957 at age 6 -- a plastic Gene Autry guitar with cowboys and musical notes all over it! At 12, embarrassed by how it looked, I spray painted it black and got serious about figuring out how to use the damn thing. I've been playing ever since.
I've been performing on stage off and on since I was 14, doing mostly folk music. I was fortunate enough to have traveled a lot throughout high school with a group that played many places in the eastern US, plus Canada, British Honduras (now Belize), England, Scotland, Wales, Denmark, and Sweden.
After high school, I didn't perform very much until I got into my 50s and met the woman I've been performing and recording CDs with for 15 years now. We have been having the time of our lives!
I retired 4 years ago. What a luxury to have so much time to spend on music! I'm writing better songs now than ever before, and my voice is the best it's ever been. I have been so lucky to have had all the experiences I've lived through. 70 years of life have provided me with a deep well of experiences -- an invaluable and cherished source of songwriting inspiration. I'm planning to keep making good use of that inspiration for as long as I can.
